HP Invites People to Express Themselves on YouTube
HP today announced the “HP You on You project”, a contest on YouTube that invites entrants from around the world to create and share videos that express who they are – without showing their faces.
The contest uses new video creation tools on YouTube, including improved video remixing and webcam video tools, to allow people of all skill levels to submit videos that run the gamut from comedies to mini-biographies and documentaries, and showcase their individual passions, causes and creative gifts.
Running through Aug. 30, the contest offers the opportunity for contestants to win more than $300,000 in cash and prizes from HP. The contest is an extension of HP’s award-winning “The PC Is Personal Again” campaign, which features achievers including Shaun White, Serena Williams and Fergie discussing what they do with their HP PCs in a series of “Hands” commercials that don’t show their faces.
“HP hopes to inspire and foster creativity,” said David Roman, vice president, Marketing Communications, Personal Systems Group, HP. “Combining personal passions, digital remixing tools and the YouTube stage means we’ll be able to gather, celebrate and reward expressions of originality like never before.”
The project celebrates products that are designed by and for consumers, and this extends to the prizes offered, which include the newly released HP Pavilion dv6z Artist Edition 2 notebook PC. The Artist Edition notebook features a stunning design inspired by the sea and sky in Okinawa, Japan, which earned 27-year-old Hisako Sakihama first place in the 2008 HP MTV “Engine Room” Notebook Design Contest.
The Artist Edition notebook brings together a rich set of options, including a Blu-ray optical drive and AMD Turion processors as well as powerful graphics from ATI. Advanced yet intuitive software applications – including Corel VideoStudio X2, Corel Painter Sketch Pad, Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 and Magix Music Maker 14 – allow users to explore new levels of creativity and fun with pictures, music and video. The notebook is currently available for a starting list price of $749 from www.hpdirect.com and consumer electronics retailers worldwide.
“We are really excited about the global scope, accessibility and social aspects of the HP You on You project,” said Jamie Byrne, head of Marketing Programs, YouTube. “This is one of the first programs where we have integrated tools for users to share their videos as broadly as possible across the web and other social platforms.”
Contest details
This is the broadest worldwide YouTube contest to date – open globally and localized for 21 YouTube English and non-English countries – and it features technology to make it easy for participants to express who they are and share their creations. The contest is hosted by Grammy-nominated artist Kenna.
Beginning today, contestants can submit their videos on the contest’s website. Each week a panel of experts will select the top 20 videos as semifinalists. YouTube users will then vote to select the top four videos, which will then be in the running to win the grand prize of $40,000 along with recognition of the video on the YouTube homepage.
After six weeks, each of the 100 semifinalists selected by YouTube will receive an HP Artist Edition notebook PC, and the 20 finalists selected by YouTube viewers also will each receive $2,500. The first-, second- and third-place winners will receive $40,000, $20,000 and $15,000 prizes, respectively.
Additionally, all submitted videos will be eligible for the Community Award. Participants will be able to share videos and enlist voters through a variety of social platforms. The 100 contestants whose videos receive the most votes will win an HP Artist Edition notebook PC and cash prizes. The first-, second- and third-place videos in the Community Award will win $15,000, $7,500 and $2,500 prizes, respectively.
“HP is encouraging creativity and innovation through the You on You project,” said Kenna. “It is exactly what I am about, and I am happy to be a part of that vision.”
Computer Aided Design Applications in the Fashion Industry
In the modern world today, the computer has indeed played an important role in different areas of work. With the different programs that it has, one can efficiently and conveniently do the tasks needed. The clothes that we wear today are designed by different artists. They have mapped down their imagination in a pad with the use of pencil. However, with the advancement in technology, a lot of fashion designers today use computer aided design application in the computer.
In the field of architecture, they are using up to date computer software in creating blueprints and plans for a construction. Moreover, creating different products and inventions are already done with the help of the computer. In addition to that, contemporary fashion designers have adopted computer aided design or Cad in making their lay outs of new fashion styles and outfits. It has proven to be effective and more efficient for the use of the different designers of today.
The use of computer assisted design in the field of fashion has brought about a lot of benefits. First of all, it helps the designer see and save a copy of the design. Moreover, different dimension can be made like the measurements of the outfit. Lastly, it also helps the fashion artist play with the different kinds of color on the design made and choose which one is best. Mixing of colors is also possible with the help of this computer software.
With the advancement on fashion industry, this mode of creating designs has proven to provide and create even more unique pieces from different artists. During a fashion runway, once the design is liked by someone known in the industry, the copy of the fashion style can easily be saved and provided with the help of the computer. There is no need to look through the sheets of paper. It provides more organization in work and saves more time.
Moreover, it provides the chance for designers who do not know how to draw to use the computer and create the design for them. Even if you are not an expert in the industry, you can make your own fashion statement with the help of the computer aided design applications. Once you know how to work it on the computer, you will have a more reliable interpretation of your imagination with the exact measurements and adjustments that you can make.
However, you need to learn how to work with computer assisted designs. You still need to master how it is done so that you will be able to experience its benefits. Tutorials are done and tools are available in order to learn how to create designs with the help of the computer.
In the fashion industry, some may still want to use the pencil and sketch pad in making designs, but there are already some who have learned how to create with the use of Cad . With determination on how to do it, you can create accurate and computer guided fashion styles.
Computer aided design applications have proven to be effective in different areas that involves designing like the fashion industry. View http://cadinfozone.com/blog/ to find out more about it.

Indian Sketch ? Arts That Depict Artist’s State Of Mind
When it comes to the most admired form of Indian art that has occupied its distinct value in the global arena then the name of Indian sketch art and sketch painting would come first. Sketch art is the hasty drawing that is made in the initial stage and kept for further use or showcase. The sketch painting basically serves as an outline for future works. According to the experts, sketch painting is an informal composition, where in majority of the cases, the artists do not give the final touch. Here, in this article we will discuss about the Indian sketch art and will explore different aspects of this form of art.
According the records, India has its relation with sketch art for over centuries. The Indian artists prepare their sketches through different ways, by using different types of materials. The sketch paintings are usually made of pencil, charcoal, wax crayons, pen and clay. By using clay beautiful artworks can be made and a large number of Indian artists have the mastery in preparing beautiful sketches using clay. The experts say that the sketch art is the form of art that gives the artists immense scope to express themselves in literally any way they want. The sketch painting gives an insight into the hearts of the artists and the artworks clearly depict the state of mind of the artists. It is a fact that while preparing a sketch artwork the painters do not use any eraser. Sometimes the artists use erasers to smudge lines or in order to soften those.
The sketch paints are made on notebooks or sketch pads. While preparing a sketch the artists give special attention on the shading and blending parts, because these are two important parts of the sketch paintings. All the painters keep in mind that shading should be done by keeping the effects of light and shade in mind. Every sketch painter should keep in mind that beauty of a painting will depend on the right selection of copper paper and the media. The weight of the sketch paper and its tooth determine whether a sketch paper can be used for multi-purpose manner or not. All these factors determine the price of an artwork.
In the present time purchasing an elegant Indian sketch painting is not at all a matter of concern for the art lovers. The internet medium has made it convenient as well as affordable.

Starting a package redesign?
By Paul Hebron
Want to think outside the box? Then get outside the box!
We’ve heard the expression, “think outside the box” so often until its become a cliche. Outside the box has little meaning unless we apply footsteps to the words and go outside of the box literally.
All too often the creative process begins in an office, at a desk. Essentially in the box. Whether we start on a computer or with pencil and sketch pad, we’re still in a box far removed from the environment where the product will be sold.
Go where your package should be seen.
Make retail market walks a regular practice several times during the year. Take a digital camera and head out to spy. Compare your brand against the competition before you start any redesign.
This is a good exercise for the entire team. Go with your brand owner and anyone involved in making decisions. This is especially great before you do a re-design of your package. Go with a plan to make an honest assessment.
Is your brand message clear in a cluttered environment? Is it visible? Is the visual hierarchy consistent with your goals? Can you do more to make the package stand out and be noticed? Does the design reflect the retail price point?
Be consumer focused, get out and face the competition. Even though this article focused on packaging, these principles can apply to any type of design.
Getting outside your box is one way to keep thinking outside the box.

Preserving The Wedding Memories With Scrapbooks
Producing scrapbooks is not only about making great creations out of your treasured pictures. It is also about keeping the memories held by those images. But of course, the attractive designs of scrapbooks do make looking at those pictures enjoyable and a real journey down the memory lane; so, might as well do the best out of scrapbooking. How? Consider the information below.
Before spending your time and effort on doing designs, invest on the “life” of your scrapbooks first: captions. To make preservation of memories with scrapbooks more meaningful, you have to write captions in each image. Write the date the picture was taken, the occasion or event, the name of the person or names of the persons in the picture, and, more importantly, a short note that best describes the picture. Make not a formal description for each image, but rather a wacky one to make reading more pleasurable.
If you think insertion of captions in the pictures is already a hard task, buy ready-to-use scrapbooks in book stores and gift shops to make scrapbooking easier the next step. But, if you like more personalized scrapbooks, go buy sketch pads, notebooks or any similar item. Because this will require your creativity, be ready for it.
Next thing you will do is to shop for scrapbook accessories, also in book stores and gift shops or, again, you can make your own. You can use different colors of ribbons, papers, paper clips, crayons, and any material you think you can use as decorations. Again, your creativity is required here so be prepared.
Organize your pictures by grouping them according to occasions or events. Or, you may opt to do scrapbooks according to friends (for instance, high school friends has a different scrapbook from your college friends), immediate family, relatives, and, relationships (boyfriend, girlfriend, wife or husband). To become unique, have an extra page after each group of pictures. On these extra pages, make people write personal notes about the images where they are included.
Because you have been familiar with your decorations and captions, you may not be able to appreciate them fully. What you will do is to keep them first and open them weeks or months later. It is only then that you will realize the beauty of your scrapbooks. It is only then that you will realize how you have preserved your memories out of these scrapbooks. But, if you like an instant feedback, ask a friend or a sibling to look for the scrapbooks and express his or her first impression.
Young people today are engage in making scrapbooks rather than buying photo albums. So, do not think twice. Get out of your way to choose the pictures that you will include in your scrapbooks and to buy materials that you will use to make them. No amount of money can equal the amount of enjoyment you will feel once you have successfully made these scrapbooks. You will also feel the pride in you because you will be able to preserve your memories properly and with pure beauty.

Are You Crystal Clear On Your Business Goals
There are as many different ways to approach building and marketing your business as there are business owners. Even if your plan looks similar to someone else’s the way you implement will be uniquely yours. It is all in the mindset and implementation.
Which business approach do you favor? Do you always have a flawless plan and strategy before getting started? Would you rather just wing it, knowing the universe will always show you the next step to take? Or do you plan, set goals and steadily take action making corrections along the way?
I’ll admit with my first business I did not have a business plan. My ideas and goals were talked about, but never written down. I had all the skills to work in my business, but my college education never prepared me for operating a business.
Although I always maintained a busy and full practice, lacking a business plan slowed down growth. Studies show business owners who have a written plan with a start and end date are more likely to reach their goal.
A positive mindset, support and planning contribute to your business success. Become crystal clear on your goals. The more specific the better. Identify dates for each milestone. List specific activities to implement as mile markers successfully taking you toward your goal.
Goals Sheet
- A goal is a dream with a deadline
- You are committed to it
- You are willing to do what is necessary to achieve it
- It is a specific, clearly stated objective
- It is measurable. You will know when you have achieved it.
- It is worthwhile to YOU! It is worthy of your best.
- It is personal and it is YOURS! Not someone else’s idea of what you “should” be doing
- It is making a dream a reality.
If this is something you really want, then write it down. You activate different parts of your brain when you write it down. This reinforces your mindset to successfully reach your goal.
At first you might feel this is out of your comfort zone, especially if you have always viewed yourself as a creative person. Well, even artists use a sketch pad. Brainstorm. Be creative. Get your ideas out of your head and onto paper.
Have a goal, but not sure what is the next step to take? Well write your goal and visualize it. Allow yourself to dream. See yourself already having reached your goal. Focus on success and watch the next steps appear.
Be inspired, strategize and implement. Embrace a positive mindset. Now is the time to grow your business with confidence. Imagine how things in your business will be different once the obstacles to your success have been removed.
Activity: What is one thing you would like to do differently? Write your goal sheet. Be specific, creating as much detail as possible. Include a beginning and an ending date. How would your business and your life change once it becomes implemented?
Do you find that you are not reaching your true potential? You can learn to transform your struggles and master the marketing mindset. Loren Fogelman, success expert, will show you step-by-step how to gain confidence, feel empowered and achieve your true potential. The transformation is so profound you will wonder what has been holding you back all this time. Receive your FREE Ebook ?Tapping Into Emotional Freedom? at http://mindsetformarketingsuccess.com

Project Management – Basic Principles
Project management is a key business skill for today’s executive. However, a whole industry has sprung up around it and although projects can be complicated, sometimes the jargon doesn’t make it sound any simpler: GANTT charts, PERT, Critical Path Analysis, PRINCE2, it’s easy to feel daunted. It can also sound too boring and technical for some sectors, such as fashion. But the Milano Fashion Institute’s Masters Degree in Fashion Project Management is now in its second year. Yes, project management is everywhere. So, think positive; whether you’re co-ordinating the Spring Collection or just making a cup of tea, the basic principles are the same.
STEP ONE – PLANNING
“All important decisions are made on the basis of insufficient data” – Sheldon Kopp This may be true – especially with hindsight – but before commencing a project, you need your information to be as complete as possible. Agree a clear statement of what the project is to deliver, by when, to whom and for what cost. Share that statement with the project team. Share it with the project stakeholders.
A stakeholder is anyone who has an interest in, or some influence over, your project. They include: senior executives, shareholders, your team, customers, colleagues, the press, etc. List your stakeholders and then consider their levels of interest and influence:
* high influence / high interest – these are people you must fully engage and satisfy
* high influence / low interest – do enough to keep them satisfied, but not so much that they become bored
* low influence / high interest – keep them adequately informed, and talk to them to ensure that no major issues are arising
* low influence / low interest – monitor them but do not bore them with excessive information
STEP TWO – ORGANISE
Having identified the parameters of the project, break it down into key tasks and steps; as much detail as possible. Which tasks depend on the completion of others? Which can be performed at the same time? By charting these tasks and knowing how long each will take and what resources it will require, you have built a detailed roadmap of your project. You also won’t have to guess at deadlines.
STEP THREE – MONITORING & CONTROLLING
The project is now under way and your job is to keep it on track. To do so you need regular communication between you and your project team and the key stakeholders. As obstacles arise, decisions will be needed. To help decide, you must know your priorities. Any project is driven by the required quality and the available time and resources. You need to know which of these is the most important and which have some flexibility in order to achieve your goal.
STEP FOUR – REVIEW
Finally, you may think it’s all over but this is the time to learn with hindsight for the benefit of the next project. What happened? What problems occurred and how were they solved? What training or coaching might be required in future?
Whether you’re involved in design, production or marketing – from the designer’s sketch pad or screen to the customer’s home – thinking positively about project management can keep everything flowing smoothly.

Fathers Day Gift Ideas – Make it Easy
Finding the perfect Father’s Day gift idea is not as hard as you may think. You’ll find it’s easy (and fun) to find something your Dad will love, once you know who he is.
Who is Dad?
Most Dad’s fall into one or more of several categories. Once you know what to look for it’s easy to see what kind of guy he is.
Outdoorsman - Usually wakes up early on his days off to be the first to get to the prime hunting or fishing spot. He will often be found cleaning his weapon or pole of choice. He may set up a tent to sleep in, but would probably be just as happy sleeping on the ground in a sleeping bag.
Builder - If it needs to be built, he will come. Often has a garage or shed filled with his tools of choice. May say things like “I can make that” or “Don’t get a new one, I can fix this one.”
Cook - Knows his way around a kitchen, but prefers cooking over fire. Die hard cooks may be found in the cold of winter starting their grill or smoker of choice. Likes creating new dishes, but prefers cooking meat.
Golfer - The earlier the tee time the better. Probably rolls out the door early on the weekends, and may be found on the course after work or during lunch on week days. Very likely to practice putting in the house.
Artist - Painting, writing, music. Whatever his medium, he probably carries it around with him. Guitar in hand, sketch pad on the seat beside him. Whatever it is, he’s always trying to come up with a unique expression of his talents.
Businessman - Always talking about a new marketing idea, sales pitch, or meeting he has been to or is going to. May carry a briefcase, but a smart phone and blue-tooth are a must. Has been known to answer business calls when most people are asleep.
Make it Easy!
Once you’ve determined what type of guy your Dad is, start thinking about what you could give him that would make his life easier. Dads are really easy to shop for. Get them something that will make their hobbies easier, more enjoyable, and simpler. And definitely get them something they would like to have, but won’t get for themselves.
They’ve probably mentioned something before, in a phrase that went something like “That’s neat I’d like to have that.” If he hasn’t mentioned anything specific, then try asking him. I’m sure he’ll have an answer for you.
If he’s a real tough nut to crack, or you enjoy the element of surprise, you may have to dig deeper, and observe longer. I’ll bet he’ll drop some clues eventually. If not, then there’s always the gift card to his favorite store. He’ll love being able to go in and get whatever he wants.
Make it easy to find the perfect Father’s Day gift. Dad is always easy to please, just get him something that will make his hobby or passion easier and more enjoyable, and he’ll use your gift for many years to come.
